Deus Ex Machinae

Deus Ex Machinae, derived from Latin meaning "God from the machine",  is when an unsolvable problem is resolved by an unexpected source of technology. Examples of this can be found in some science fiction/fantasy films.

1. The Hobbit- Lord of the Rings: relies on mysticism to save the day. The ring of power is the prime example, especially in the scene where it coincidentally falls onto Frodo's finger.

2. Spongebob Squarepants Movie: In the final scene, the villain's (Plankton) evil doing is undone by the power of rock music.

3. The Adjustment Bureau: the fate of the main characters was changed by they're passionate love, even when at first there seem to be no escape from reality.
